Plano native Michael Urie makes his directorial debut with this hilarious gem about fame. He’s Way More Famous Than You follows one-time indie darling and now washed up actress Halley Feiffer as she decides to make a movie based on her recent break up and fill it with people more famous as she is.

Halley Feiffer and Ryan Spahn co-wrote and star in this film as the silliest of siblings who are hoping to boost their fame through making an independent film for a festival. From the first minute right through to the end, it’s non-stop side-splittingly hilarious as Halley goes from one deliciously awkward moment to another. Michael Urie not only steps behind the camera to direct his first narrative feature, but he also plays the director of Halley’s little movie.

Halley Feiffer is phenomenally hilarious. She’ll have you laughing until you cry all the while cringing from the awkward situations in which her character constantly creates for herself. Michael Urie does a brilliant job in the director’s chair bringing such a wonderful script to life and milking those awkward moments for all of their comedic gold.

There are also some amazing cameos in this movie, including Jesse Eisenberg and Ralph Macchio, but you’ll have to see the movie to see who else pops up. He’s Way More Famous Than You has a showing this afternoon at 4:00PM at the Magnolia Theater in West Village, but you can also rent it through iTunes.
